Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Aircraft Production Test Electrical Test Heavy Assemblers (Level B or Level C) to assist with multiple areas of the 787 production system in North Charleston South Carolina on a variable shift!

This role offers an exciting opportunity within a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment. Team members will leverage their prior experience and the knowledge gained from training and certifications to complete daily assigned tasks effectively.

Individuals will be responsible for identifying their work locations on advanced airplanes parts and tooling by interpreting intricate drawings to accurately complete detailed work instructions. Attention to detail and procedure compliance is critical to identify all necessary hand tools parts and equipment required to ensure defect-free work. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Quality:Maintaining rigorous quality standards in all deliverables ensuring that our work meets or exceeds expectations and complies with all regulatory and company requirements.

  • Must successfully complete the new hire foundational training to obtain and maintain all required certifications.

  • Proficient use of a computer in a dynamic production environment.

  • Look up/read/comprehend electronic technical work instructions drawings and/or specifications.

  • Wear appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task performed.

  • Operate various mechanical lifts (e.g. ladders tiger and snorkel lifts).

  • Use various hand tools and diagnostic equipment such as screwdrivers ratchets power screwdriver multi meters continuity testers.

  • Apply chemical solvents sealants coatings primers adhesives paints and special finishes.

  • Inspect your work quality and check for Foreign Object Debris.

  • Work around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.

  • Finger manipulation (keyboarding other).

  • Lifting and carrying up to 10-35 pounds.

  • Climbing/balancing (stairs ladders poles scaffolding inclined surfaces) crawling crouching (squatting).

  • Flexion/Extension (head bent down head bent back) handling kneeling bending at the waist reaching (overhead) rotation of head/neck standing twisting at the waist and walking.

  • Perform functional testing of aircraft electrical systems and components as well as perform aircraft systems troubleshooting and fault repair.

  • Assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.

  • Perform complex production assembly operations on structural parts mechanical assemblies subassemblies and aircraft systems equipment and accessories using manual or automated assembly tools.

  • Identify roadblocks and production constraints escalating issues which cannot be resolved by the team using open and clear communication.

  • Support teammates to improve overall team performance by providing cross training and mentoring.

This position is expected to be 100% selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements a U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizen lawful permanent resident refugee or asylee.

Aerospace Technician and Mechanic Aptitude Virtual Job Tryout:To be considered for this position you will be required to complete an assessment as part of the selection will receive an email invitation at the address you provided in your application. From the date of the invitation you will have 5 days to complete the assessment. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Must have the ability to work variable shifts (first second or third) based on business needs.

  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role such as flexion and extension (head bent down head bent back) handling kneeling bending at the waist reaching overhead rotation of head/neck standing twisting at the waist and walking climbing/balancing (stairs ladders poles scaffolding inclined surfaces) crawling crouching (squatting).

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 10-35 pounds.

  • Ability to work with high-hazard chemicals using proper protective equipment provided.

  • Ability to complete and maintain Confined Space and Fall Protection certifications if required.

  • 1 year experience using software applications such as internet navigation email Microsoft Office Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • 1 year experience following detailed work instructions reading and interpreting blueprints drawings or specifications along with successful completion of training and knowledge assessments involving mathematical calculations all conducted in English.

  • 1 year experience in a manufacturing technical or mechanical field including equivalent military experience performing work with basic hand power and/or pneumatic (air) tools.

  • 1 years of experience in electrical assembly and/or electronic materials.

  • 1 years of experience in avionics systems troubleshooting wire bundle installations and aircraft electrical systems troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 years of experience with functional testing of aircraft electrical systems.

  • 3 years of experience with functional testing of IFE systems knowledge.

  • 3 years of experience with aircraft systems troubleshooting and fault repair experience.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range level B: $54000 - $64000

Summary pay range level C: $61200 - $64500
