The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered60 - 100% (24 - 40 hours a week) Medical Assistant II (MA II)to work at ourUICC Clinics.These positions will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics Internal Medicine Clinics or Pediatrics Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Family Medicine Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

Summary:

Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner) RN (registered nurse) NM/ANM (nurse manager/assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee functions as a member of the patient care team. Performs technical patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.

Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our UICC Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician physician assistant nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

- $60760.80 (at 100% time)/ Hourly: $19.59 - $29.10(based on years of experience)

Coralville Family Medicine Clinic Specifics:

Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule:Variable hoursMonday - Friday between 7:30 am - 5:00 pm. No weekends on call time or holidays required.

Location:Coralville IA(or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

1st Avenue Family Medicine Clinic Specifics

Percent of Time:100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule:Variable hours Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. No on call time weekends or holidays required.

Location:Iowa City IA.(or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Heartland Drive Internal Medicine Clinic Specifics:

Percent of Time:80 % or 100% (32 or 40 hours per week)

Schedule:Variable hours Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 5:30 pm. No weekends on call time or holidays required.

Location:Coralville IA (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Holiday Road and North Dodge Pediatric Clinics Specifics:

Percent of Time:60% or 100% (24 or 40 hours per week)

Schedule:Variable hours Monday - Friday between 7:30 am - 7:00 pm. No on call time. Weekends and Holidays as needed.

Location:Iowa City IA and Coralville IA (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

North Liberty Pediatric Clinic Specifics:

Percent of Time: 60% (24 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No weekends on-call time or holiday shifts required.

Location: North Liberty IA. (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • CertificationORregistration as a Medical AssistantORcompletion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant ProgramORCompletion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology medical terminology basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.

Special Qualification/License:

  • Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication.

Highly Desired Requirements

  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Previous Ambulatory Clinic experience.
  • Previous Family Medicine or Pediatrics experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous immunization experience.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.
  • Previous experience handling and processing lab specimens.

Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position
