The Communications and Marketing Officer will lead and develop the communications and marketing activity for The Rural Coffee Caravan.
The purpose of the role is to raise our profile across Suffolk promote our caravan visits and community work and help demonstrate the positive impact we have on reducing rural isolation and strengthening community connections.
Working closely with the wider RCC team you will create clear welcoming and consistent communications that support both day to day promotion and the long term growth of the organisation. You will help tell the story of the Rural Coffee Caravan sharing real experiences from the communities we visit and building strong links with partners supporters and funders.
Your responsibilities
- Create and schedule engaging content for social media particularly Facebook and Instagram.
- Write clear friendly copy for newsletters the website and printed promotional materials.
- Promote caravan visits routes and special events to increase awareness and engagement.
- Maintain mailing lists and support email communications.
- Capture and share stories from local communities including photos and short case studies (with consent).
- Support communications with partners funders and other organisations.
- Track basic engagement and reach and provide simple reports when required.
- Work independently while contributing positively to a small flexible team.
What you will need
- Confidence in creating engaging social media content and writing clear approachable copy.
- Experience planning and managing communications or content calendars and juggling priorities.
- Basic design skills for example using Canva or a willingness to learn.
Essential criteria:
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Confidence engaging with communities and partner organisations.
- Right to work in the UK (United Kingdom).
- An understanding of or interest in rural issues and community wellbeing is highly valued.

The Rural Coffee Caravan (RCC) is a Suffolk based charity founded in 2003 to address rural isolation and support community wellbeing. What started as a single caravan visiting villages during the summer has grown into a fleet of vehicles offering year round outreach across the county.
We provide a warm informal space where people can meet chat and connect alongside information advice and signposting to local support. Our work helps strengthen communities supports local initiatives and enables harder to reach residents to feel informed and included.
