NEEDED: Phlebotomy Technician
LOCATION: 14601 Burbridge Rd. SE Cumberland MD 21502
SCHEDULE: 6 hours per day 5 days per week 30 hours per week 6:00 AM 3:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Shall have valid certification to practice in the state of Maryland as a Medical Assistant Laboratory Assistant Emergency Medical Technician or Phlebotomist.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified in accordance with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Must provide proof of experience with specimen collection packaging and shipment to referral laboratories with knowledge of maintaining appropriate records.
- Shall provide a resume and requested documentation along with copy of all diplomas and/or certificates to support stated qualification.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist the Physician Physician Assistant and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patients vital signs and weight and scanning laboratory results in the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Organize schedule and perform laboratory studies specimen collection and process within the Health Service Unit to include A&O in-processing DNA per procedure vaccine programs and PPD updates.
- Prepare and ensure specimens are packed and transported according to the contract or BOP Reference Lab and document per Health Services Unit Laboratory Procedures. Ensure that lab requests are completed properly and all reports are returned from the contract lab provider notified log results in as received follow up appropriately and file results in lab and medical record.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of the Health Services Manual and Unit Procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is updated accordingly.
- Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact CLIA re-certification maintenance of equipment and notification of needed supplies.
- Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with writing and implementing policies that deal with the laboratory program.
