POSITION PURPOSE
MDT is looking for a hands-on detail-oriented IT Technical Intern to join our team. This position is ideal for a student looking to gain practical real-world experience in corporate IT infrastructure including physical cabling hardware installation and end-user device deployment. You will work alongside experienced technicians to support our daily operations and special IT projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cabling & Network Physical Layer:Assist in running terminating testing and labeling network cables.
- Hardware Installation:Assist with rack and stack projects including installing servers switches and patch panels.
- Laptop & Workstation Deployment:Provision image and configure laptops.
- Office Setup & Moves:Set up workstations including mounting monitors connecting docking stations and organizing cable management.
- IT Documentation & Asset Management:Update asset management systems (inventory tracking) and maintain accurate documentation of network drops and cable pathways.
- Troubleshooting:Provide basic troubleshooting support for hardware peripherals and network connectivity issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently pursuing a degree or certification in Information Technology Network Administration Computer Science or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware software and networking fundamentals.
- Strong interest in physical IT infrastructure.
- Ability to lift up to 3050 lbs and work under desks or in restricted spaces (server rooms).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail particularly with labeling and documentation.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Internship with a Monday Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm schedule with a one-hour unpaid lunch.
- Additional hours including Saturday/Sunday support as required.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).
- Long duration of computer workstation usage.
