What youll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Academic Chair School of Trades and Transportation and under the direct supervision of Faculty you will:
- Provide laboratory/shop program and administrative support for marine programs.
- Maintain the laboratory/shop by managing the lab/shop environment media and/or equipment preparation and maintenance of the inventory system for lab/shop supplies.
- Assist with lab/shop demonstrations including preparing mock-ups; provide administrative preparation for the lab/shop assist with technology needs including computers; and work with students Faculty and staff in a laboratory/shop setting.
- Assist Faculty with the safe operation of tools and equipment and safe work practices.
- Provide routine maintenance and repairs on Lifeboat and Fast Rescue boat structure engines drive train and starting systems.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
The minimum educational qualification for this position is an interprovincial Red Seal endorsed Certificate of Qualification in a relevant trade and/or relevant TechNova certified Technician or addition you possess training in WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations as well as Standard First Aid CPR and discipline relevant safety training or you have a willingness to obtain within the first year.
You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience. This includes experience in small engine repair and maintenance overhaul and maintenance of marine engines and working on air compressors and boat equipment.
Experience working in a Maritime Training Institution would be considered an asset
You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail.
You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
Experience in training/facilitation preparation delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset.
Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.

You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to classroom management in an engineering workshop related to fitting machining welding and engine repairs.
You have proven records and information management skills and abilities.
You are dedicated to life-long learning.
