Special School District (SSD) teacher assistants also known as paraprofessionals support students and teachers in special education classrooms throughout St. Louis County. Through your diligent care supervision and encouragement you will serve as a valued member of an educational team focused on ensuring students have what they need to thrive and feel empowered. Teacher assistants work during school hours Monday through Friday. The start and end times may vary depending on the building assignment.

Salary

• $22 to $38/hr. based on education and experience (2025-2026 salary range. Will be revised to 2026-2027 when available.)

Education Requirements

• Thirty-six hours of college creditwith supporting transcriptsorcompletion of theFrontline Substitute Teacher Trainingas approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Experience working with children preferred

Certificates Licenses Registrations

• Substitute Certificationissued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) required

Calendar

• 10-month school year (August to June) exact dates dependent on assigned location(s)
