JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Morgan Academic Center is accepting applications for part-time Academic Coach positions throughout the 2026-27 academic year. This position requires an ability to work with at-risk student-athletes to develop and improve upon their study strategies including but not limited to goal setting time management organization note-taking reading study and test preparation self-monitoring self-advocacy and critical thinking/problem-solving in a diverse university setting.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to informally assess student needs and deliver targeted academic interventions
Responsibilities include:
- Attending weekly scheduled appointments with assigned mentees
- Writing and submitting timely and accurate session reports
- Attending initial and ongoing meetings/trainings
- Compliance with all related MAC Penn State B1G Ten and NCAA policies/procedures
This position is limited to a maximum of (20) hours per week with a (typical) minimum commitment of 5 hours per week; however hours are not guaranteed and may vary each week/semester including the possibility of evenings and Sundays. A minimum of an earned bachelors degree or higher is preferred; current Penn State graduate students are preferred but qualified applicants with equivalent academic credentials and/or experience mentoring coaching or teaching will be considered.
