Job Summary

45% - Lab Activities
  • Maintain lab space (office space and interview rooms) and research materials.
  • Assist with scheduling filing mail processing and completing subject payments.
  • Create recruitment materials for new studies (brochures fliers and advertisements).
  • Assist with development of study surveys treatment materials and mobile apps.
35% - Data Management & Research Activities
  • Assist the project coordinators Associate Director and Principal Investigator with conducting large-scale projects in clinical psychology by participating in research activities such as recruitment screening data collection and data management (entry coding and proofing).
  • Assist the project coordinators Associate Director and Principal Investigator with maintaining laboratory records including subject consents logs enrollment logs health release forms and study timeline reports.
20% - Assisting with Training & Additional Lab Activities
  • Assist the coordinators Associate Director and Principal Investigator with training other undergraduates on data entry Qualtrics REDCap and maintenance of daily lab activities.
  • Attend lab meetings scheduled on Fridays from 9-10 AM CST which involves discussion of lab business as well as readings in the area of eating disorders psychopathology and psychological assessment. You will also attend 1-2 project meetings per week to discuss goals and progress of grants.
  • Complete a science communications project conveying study results to lay audiences.
  • Coordinate outreach opportunities on campus and in the community.

Position Overview
The Center for the Advancement of Research on Eating Behaviors (CARE) has an opening for 1-2 Student Hourly Research Aides (RAs). CARE conducts research focused on the assessment diagnosis and classification of eating and weight disorders. A major goal of the center is to better understand the relationships between eating disorder behaviors mood and anxiety symptoms. We also conduct studies that provide free treatment to students and community members who have an eating disorder using mobile health apps and telehealth.

The RA(s) selected for this position will assist the project coordinators Associate Director of CARE and Principal Investigator with ongoing research and study activities. The RA(s) will also learn about team-based science by collaborating with our team of research interns PhD students junior and senior co-investigators and the study PI.

The CARE Lab has spaces in the Dole Human Development Center and Wakarusa Research Facility.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
