SUMMARY:

As a member of the Money Management Center within the broader Student Success Center the Financial Wellness Program Coordinator serves as a resource and advocate for all ETAMU students. By developing implementing and overseeing comprehensive financial wellness programming this role will help students build the skills confidence and financial mindset necessary to excel during and beyond their time at East Texas A&M University. This position is responsible for organizing in-person and virtual outreach events that promote financial literacy and empower students to make informed financial decisions.

The Financial Wellness Program Coordinator will also oversee the development of a Financial Professional Internship Program for students including supervising participating interns and collaborating closely with the College-level faculty/staff to ensure alignment with academic standards professional development goals and experiential learning outcomes.

This position requires strong public speaking program development supervision and event planning skills as well as the ability to engage student populations in educational programming. Due to the nature of student engagement and campus events regular evening and after-hours work will be required. A flexible work week totaling 40 hours will be expected to accommodate programming needs.

This is a grant-funded position. The anticipated duration of funding is a minimum of two and a half (2.5) years aligned with the grant timeline. Continued employment is contingent upon renewed grant funding or restricted funds.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Financial Wellness Education & Programming 40%

  • Develops and executes a comprehensive financial wellness strategy focused on equipping students with lifelong financial skills economic confidence and a growth-oriented financial mindset that supports success beyond graduation.
  • Designs coordinates and delivers virtual in-person and outreach-based workshops presentations and large-scale events focused on financial literacy and economic empowerment.
  • Serves as a primary public speaker and campus subject matter resource on financial literacy topics including budgeting saving investing basics responsible borrowing credit management debt repayment identity protection and financial goal setting.
  • Assists in advising and supporting student organizations through financial education programming and collaborative initiatives.

2. Campus Outreach and Cross-Training 25%

  • Develops outreach initiatives to increase student engagement in financial wellness programming
  • Prepares informational and educational publications
  • Develops educational materials digital content social media messaging and resource guides to support financial wellness initiatives and expand program reach.
  • Coordinates training and in-service opportunities for campus staff and student leaders to enhance institutional capacity around financial wellness education.

3. Student Coaching and Internship Development 25%

  • Provides individualized financial wellness coaching to students as appropriate focusing on skill development decision-making strategies and long-term financial capability rather than transactional problem resolution.
  • Oversees the Financial Professional Internship Program including recruitment onboarding training supervision scheduling mentorship and performance evaluation of student interns.
  • Collaborates closely with the College of Business to align internship experiences with academic learning outcomes professional competencies and career readiness standards.

4. Partnership Assessment and Growth - 10%

  • Establishes and maintains campus and community partnerships that enhance financial education opportunities including collaboration with Financial Aid & Scholarships the Cashiers Office Career Services Academic Advising College Life Coaches and external financial professionals when appropriate.
  • Contributes to grant reporting requirements by tracking program participation documenting measurable outcomes and assisting in preparation of required reports demonstrating program impact.
  • Utilizes assessment tools participation data and learning outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement efforts.
  • Maintains professional competency in financial wellness best practices higher education trends and grant compliance standards through ongoing professional development.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Money Management Center by performing all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two (2) years related experience in program development event planning public speaking student engagement or financial education initiatives. Experience supervising student employees or interns is preferred. Proficiency in word processing spreadsheet applications and presentation software is required.
  • Ability to: Communicate confidently and effectively in both large-group presentation settings and one-on-one interactions. Develop and manage multiple events and initiatives simultaneously. Provide mentorship and supervision to student interns. Utilize data to assess program outcomes and make informed decisions. Work independently with strong organizational and project management skills. Adapt to a flexible 40-hour work week that includes frequent evening and after-hours programming. Relate effectively to all student populations and campus stakeholders.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: None.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Other Requirements: Comfort with evening and flexible scheduling to meet student availability.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience developing and leading financial wellness financial literacy or economic empowerment programming within a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience designing implementing and assessing co-curricular programs with measurable learning outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of personal finance principles including budgeting credit management debt repayment strategies saving and investing basics and financial goal setting.
