Job Summary
The Opportunity
The Director of E3 (Experiential Engaged and Entrepreneurial) and Career Development leads the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) career development ecosystem integrating experiential learning curriculum advising alumni and employer engagement. The role advances a model that embeds career development into academic pathways shifting from traditional one-on-one advising toward a more curriculum-connected and experiential approach.
In partnership with college leadership and Cornell Career Services the Director will design a scalable equitable service model that leverages digital tools cohort-based programming and peer advising while reserving individual appointments for advanced guidance. The role also leads efforts to ensure all students complete meaningful experiential learning and supports the development of micro-credentials aligned with academic and career pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead CALSs integrated E3 and career development strategy
- Embed career readiness into curriculum in partnership with faculty and departments
- Design scalable accessible career development programs and services
- Oversee experiential learning initiatives and support a college-wide graduation requirement
- Build and manage strategic employer partnerships aligned with workforce trends
- Collaborate across the Cornell Career Network to align programs and priorities
- Use data and assessment to improve access outcomes and student pathways
- Supervise staff oversee communications and enhance systems and operations
This role advances a shift toward career development as a shared academic responsibility ensuring students graduate with the experiences and skills needed for lifelong success.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Contract College position that is based in Ithaca NY. This position follows a 4:1 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement during the academic year and a 3:2 campus-to-home hybrid work arrangement during the summer. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time. Typical work hours are 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Thursday and 8:00am to 3:30pm on Fridays.

We are seeking a team member who brings a forward-thinking approach to career services demonstrates strong employer relations experience and is excited to help drive a shift from the one-on-one career advising model to integrating career content directly into the curriculum. Additionally you will have:
- A Bachelors degree and 5-7 years of related experience or equivalent.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to function effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be proactive persistent resourceful innovative and both a team leader and a team player.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Strategic thinking and priority setting are essential.
- Confidence to lead under dynamic conditions.
- High level of interpersonal skills including experience maintaining positive relationships with various constituencies such as students employers other staff and the public.
- Significant management experience including the ability to maintain a collaborative team environment that plays to strengths of individuals.
- Exhibit commitment and ability to foster professional growth and excellence among staff.
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity equity access inclusion and wellbeing.
- Must complete Cornell University Supervisory Development Training within one year of hire into the position.
- Compliant with all Cornell University and job-related training requirements.
- Proven experience connecting inclusion belonging and wellbeing practices to business goals.

Rewards and Benefits
- This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 1 day per week and on-campus 4 days per week during the academic year and remotely 2 days per week and on-campus 3 days per week during the summer. The university reserves the right to modify suspend revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
- This position is based in Ithaca New York. Employees who work remotely may receive multiple W-2 Forms depending on their work location. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholding for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside of New York State.
