Legal Administrative Assistant – Commercial Litigation
Job Summary
Our client a highly regarded Vancouver-based law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to join its Commercial Litigation team. This role is well suited to a detail-oriented legal professional with strong litigation experience who thrives in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate will work closely with lawyers and paralegals and play a key role in supporting a demanding litigation practice.
The Role
The Legal Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a broad range of legal and administrative duties including:
- Providing clear concise and professional oral and written communication
- Drafting and preparing legal correspondence and documents
- Managing file opening and closing procedures
- Maintaining calendars scheduling appointments and managing bring-forward systems
- Performing advanced document editing and formatting for correspondence reports forms and spreadsheets
- Arranging examinations for discovery and trial dates
- Managing competing priorities and high work volumes
- Handling large volumes of paper correspondence
- Monitoring deadlines and ensuring limitation dates are met
- Completing time entries and assisting with billing
- Sorting and preparing incoming and outgoing mail
- Performing other related duties as required
Key Qualifications & Experience
- 35 years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant
- Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from an accredited program
- Prior litigation experience (commercial litigation preferred)
- Strong organizational and document management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Advanced aptitude with legal software and systems
- Strong database and document management knowledge
- Proficiency with MS Word MS Excel Outlook case management software and time-tracking/billing systems
