JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
VAST Summer Art Studio Workshop Instructor - Digital Media/Graphic Design
Location: Penn State Altoona
Program: VAST Summer Art Studio
Camp Dates: July
Digital Media Workshop Dates: July 14 16 and 17th 1:00 PM 4:00 PM
Total Sessions: 3 3-hr sessions (plus ½ session on first day)
Compensation: $200/session $700 total
Position Overview
The Visual Art Studies (VAST) program seeks a Digital Media/Graphic Design professional to lead a three-session workshop within the VAST Summer Art Studio a 5-day studio art camp for high school students.
While the camp runs Monday through Friday this position is responsible only for three afternoon digital media sessions.
Students will complete a focused logo design project learning foundational design principles and culminating in vinyl cutting and heat press production.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver three structured 3-hour workshop sessions
- Introduce foundational graphic design concepts (vector graphics typography layout)
- Guide students in Adobe Illustrator
- Prepare files for vinyl cutting and heat press application
- Provide individual feedback and maintain a safe organized digital workspace
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Graphic Design Digital Media Studio Art or related field
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Teaching or workshop experience
- Experience working with high school students
