Job Summary

About Us: TheHeike McKinneyLaboratory is at the forefront of investigatingclinical outcomes in children born with a cleft lip and/or palate and applying informatics and data science approaches to improving clinical carefor affected families.We are dedicated to advancingclinical practice through generating new knowledge applying epidemiologic health sciences mixed methods and data science approaches to facilitatethe understanding offeeding nutrition and growth in children born with a cleft. We are also at the forefront ofdeveloping agloballearning health network so craniofacial teams can learn from each other and adopt practices that improve care for all children with a cleft.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will contribute to our ongoing research endeavors by:

  • Developing scientific skills commensurate with the post-doctoral level
  • Preparation and submission of manuscripts
  • Respond to reviewers and submit revised manuscripts getting manuscripts to finish line
  • Analyze and write code for analysis for publications
  • Preparing and submitting abstracts
  • Presenting at localregionaland nationalconferences
  • Conducting research and development activities in support of assigned projects
  • Protocol development and review
  • Data analysis
  • Review code written by others
  • Contribute to study reports statistical analysis plans and grant applications
  • Training in the conduct of researchand research ethics
  • Work closely under supervision to implement research projects that further the understanding and development ofgrowth in children with cleft and learning health networks
  • Communicate with PIs and research management on a regular basis

Required Education and Experience
Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in specialty area from an accredited university training program.
Experience using basic research techniques of specialty area.

Preferred
The ideal candidate willpossessa PhD in amethodsrelated field and have strong writing abilities. This may includeadvancedproficiencyand skillsinanalysis and researchmethods related to clinical research methods e.g. epidemiology health servicesdata science.Thesuccessfulcandidate will havea track recordof publishing peer reviewed articles asbothfirstauthorand co-author.The candidate will haveevidence ofstrong communicationskills and ability to work in a team with individualsexpertisefar from their own.They will have experience and/or interest in conducting research on children with craniofacial and/or dental conditions or clear rationale for interest in becoming part of the field.

Compensation Range

$80172 per year

Guidance:The postdoctoral fellow will receive funding focused mentoring experience and training in clinicalresearchand willfurther develop theirexpertise inepidemiology health services data science related to caring for children with a cleft.The fellowship is designed to prepare the post-doctoral level trainee for a career in an academic or non-profit multidisciplinary settingfocused on health of vulnerable children and/or those with craniofacial oral and/or dental conditions.

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity skills experience and expertise and may vary within the range provided.
