Job Summary
General Summary
This position is primarily responsible for handling the daily accounting duties of the Credit Union assisting with the gathering and preparation of information used for regulatory reporting and financial analysis and the preparation of financial statements according to General Accepted Accounting Principles and established Credit Union policies procedures and legal and regulatory guidelines.
Essential Functions
The essential functions of this position may include but are not limited to:
* Verify and post detailed business transactions to general ledger and other tracking systems in support of the day-to-day Credit Union operations ensuring proper controls and audit trails are maintained.
* Balance audit and reconcile general ledger accounts; prepare accounting entries as needed.
* Maintain format and integrity of general ledger reports and create new reports when required.
*Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and quarterly reports.
* Assist in the preparation of audit schedules reporting data collection and documents procedures required for internal and external audits.
* Perform various accounting tasks including account payable and fixed assets.
* Code and post accounts payable invoices for disbursement
* Research and resolve issues regarding invoices
* Support accounting management with research and special projects as needed.
* Work in conjunction with other departments within the Credit Union to support each others needs and the needs of the Credit Union members and prospective members.
* Complete annual regulatory compliance testing as assigned per the terms of internal policy and other internal and offsite training as necessary to keep current on accounting practices.
* Represent the Credit Union in a professional manner through written and verbal communication attitude appearance work area and thorough knowledge of Credit Union products and services.

Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in finance Accounting or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
Background in general ledger accounting managing fixed assets and investments balancing commercial bank statements and cost accounting principles.
Experience in creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets
Knowledge
Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and related laws and regulations
High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products and internet-based applications
Must be fluent in English.
Proficiency in operating a PC and other standard office equipment
Skills
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Exceptional and effective interpersonal relationship building verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated and capable of working independently
Proficient computer/PC skills with accurate data entry and strong mathematical skills
Developed organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
Ability
This position requires the ability to:
Analyze large amounts of data from various sources and organize the data by creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets
Perform complex mathematical calculations and work with mathematical concepts such as fractions percentages and ratios
Read speak and write in English
Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Work productively with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks while keeping duties organized
Work effectively under strict time constraints deadlines with flexibility to adapt to peak periods of heavy workload
Operate a personal computer on a continuous basis and standard office equipment as needed
Verbally answer and direct calls using proper telephone etiquette

The position is primarily located in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
