Position Overview
The Legal Manager will serve as a strategic partner to management product and operations teams providing actionable legal advice to support business growth and innovation.
This role is responsible for endtoend commercial contract management litigation and dispute resolution legal risk management and data privacy oversight within a FinTech and consumer finance environment including mobile installment and retail finance models.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Philippine lawyer with at least 5 years of experience in commercial and financial services law with exposure to fintech consumer credit installment financing or retail finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory & Business Support
Provide timely accurate and actionable legal advice to management product sales operations risk and collections teams
Conduct earlystage legal risk assessments and structural reviews for new products markets partnerships and business models
Prepare legal analysis and advisory reports for major business decisions investments and strategic partnerships
Provide guidance on legal boundaries relating to consumer protection advertising practices and data usage
2. Contract & Legal Document Management
Draft review negotiate and manage core business contracts including but not limited to:
Installment Sales Agreements (with consumers and partner merchants)
Strategic Cooperation Distributor and Agent Agreements
Technical Service Data Service Vendor and Outsourcing Agreements
Intellectual Property Licensing and NonDisclosure Agreements
Establish and maintain a standardized contract template library ensuring compliance with Philippine law and internal approval requirements
Oversee the filing safekeeping updating and lifecycle management of all legal documents
3. Litigation Arbitration & Dispute Resolution
Act as the companys legal representative in managing relationships with external law firms
Lead or support litigation arbitration and administrative investigation proceedings including:
Collectionrelated and repayment disputes
Commercial and contractual disputes
Insolvency or debt restructuring matters
Develop and execute legal strategies to mitigate disputes and reduce litigation exposure
Provide practical solutions to prevent disputes from escalating into legal proceedings
4. Legal Risk Management
Systematically identify assess and monitor legal risk points across company operations
Lead the development of legal risk prevention guidelines internal controls and advisory frameworks
Periodically review business practices documentation and processes to identify potential legal exposure
5. Data Privacy & DPO Responsibilities
Perform Data Protection Officer (DPO) duties in accordance with the Philippine Data Privacy Act (RA 10173) and NPC issuances
Monitor compliance with data privacy laws and internal data handling policies
Maintain and review Records of Processing Activities (ROPA)
Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for systems products and thirdparty arrangements
Oversee Data Subject Request (DSR) handling and ensure responses within prescribed timelines
Lead data breach assessment investigation and reporting to the National Privacy Commission (NPC) when required
Review datarelated contracts and agreements to ensure appropriate data protection obligations
Conduct internal data privacy training and awareness sessions
Serve as the primary liaison with the NPC on data privacy matters
While coordination with other departments is required responsibility for data privacy oversight rests with this role.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Credentials
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognized Philippine law school
Duly admitted to the Philippine Bar with a valid license to practice
Good standing with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines with an unblemished professional record
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of legal practice experience
At least 3 years specializing in Commercial Law Financial Services Law Consumer Finance or Retail Finance
Experience in either:
A law firm (commercial / financial practice) or
An inhouse legal role within FinTech Banking Consumer Finance or Retail Credit
Proven track record in managing complex commercial contracts and litigation matters

Preferred Qualifications
Prior legal experience in mobile phone installment consumer credit or FinTech environments
Experience handling data privacy (NPCrelated) or intellectual property matters
Proficiency in English and Filipino
