The role

Process Technician is a hands-on technical professional responsible for monitoring operating troubleshooting and improving manufacturing/production processes to ensure efficiency safety and product quality.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday - 08:00-16:30

As a Process Technician at IPL you will:

New tool installations

Commissioning of equipment

Test and develop new and existing moulds.

Ancillary equipment set up and optimization

Assigned Projects

Developing and training processing standard parameters

Improving process performance by achieving and maintaining optimum production efficiencies.

Cycle time adherence

Quality / SPC set up and process monitoring

Daily reports

Standard Processing conditions

To assist in the training of Shift Process Staff where required

To include but not limited to

o Changeover Preparation Mould Changes Colour Changes Material Changes Insert Changes Version Changes

To drive Continuous Improvement activities through problem solving and lean techniques

To act as a Trial Champion including but not limited to

o Mould Process Product Material Additive & Equipment

o Creating and updating standard documentation ensuring this is available for all products

To work with setting department to ensure

o Installation & start up of moulds in accordance with all good practices and to hand to production in optimum performance status.

o Carrying out all qualification requirements for each product

o Deliver hard copies of processing set up tooling service robot set

What you will bring to the role:

  • Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment

  • Mechanical appreciation with experience using most types of hand tools

  • Computer Literate

  • Numerate and Literate

  • Attention to detail

  • Knowledge of Health and Safety signs

  • Ability to follow instructions

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to continuously improve the way they work.

  • Must be professional and confidential in dealing with all employees and have the ability to deal with difficult situations calmly and objectively.

  • Able to work well unsupervised and demonstrate initiative.

  • Confident dealing with individuals at all levels in the organisation.

Problem Solving

To investigate and diagnose problems if production setters are unable to rectify relating to the moulding process that are performing below the required level.

Following interventions update a database of knowledge to allow setters to remedy faults using this information

Developing people and processes

Current moulds and practices

All process in conjunction with other departments and through the use of various moulding systems and techniques to increase OEE and reduce labour requirements

Process including complex tooling and automation processes using a variety of materials core sequences twin shot moulding In-Mould-labelling.

Daily Activities

To promote and encourage safe working practices

To attend the morning technical team meeting & Cross team meetings

Lead trials and be responsible for the full trial process for projects assigned

To work with the toolroom engineering & quality on issues when solution is required.

To assist the Technical Manager and Produce SOP documentation used to train Process related technologies that are introduced.

To liaise with other departments to ensure a swift resolution of day to day problems. Monitor reported issues to ensure timely close out of actions

To utilise training skills to work in conjunction with site managers to increase the skill level of process related.

Reports & Customer Discussions

To liaise with relevant personnel and produce reports as required on projects trials improvement initiatives etc.

To ensure that company policy on such matters as health and safety housekeeping etc are followed at all times.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Ideally served a recognised Engineering or Processing apprenticeship.

Injection moulding qualification equivalent to IMT 3 or above.

Multi skilling qualification advantageous.

Knowledge and experience of various plastics processes. Gas Assist & Overmoulding

Good knowledge of modern injection moulding machinery robotics tooling finishing equipment printing assembling

Good knowledge of different plastic materials

Good knowledge of modern automation equipment
