The Stop Community Food Centres mission is to increase access to healthy food in a manner that maintains dignity builds community and challenges inequality. From its origins 40 years ago as one of Canadas first food banks The Stop has since grown into a vibrant community centre that uses food as a gateway to addressing many issues including poverty the environment social isolation and health in one of Torontos lowest-income neighbourhoods. The Stop is accredited by Imagine Canada for excellence in non-profit accountability transparency and governance.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS). It helps youth aged 15 to 30 gain paid summer work experience and develop skills for the job market.
At The Stop we are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated candidate to provide administrative and archive support. Working on-site with the Executive Office and reporting to the Executive Assistant this position will help to strengthen our records management practices and support in transitioning physical files into a secure well-organized digital archive.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Digitize physical records throughhigh-volume scanning and upload to cloud-based and internal server systems.
- Assistin implementing records management practices including file organization protocols and basic classification systems
- Assistinannual inventory and assetdocumentation processes across organizational sites
- Contributeto organization-wide file clean up and storage optimization initiatives.
- Review paper and digital records to support classification retention and secure destruction in alignment with confidentiality and privacy requirements
- Assistwith organizing program-related data and documentation to support reporting andanalysis
- Support The Stops program teamsandleadershipwithspecial projects and tasks as assigned.
- Provide occasional front-line support by greeting community members and responding to general inquiriesin-person or by phone.
Qualifications:
- To apply you mustbe:
- Between 15 and 30 years ofage.
- A Canadian citizen a permanent resident or someone who has been officially granted refugee protection in Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada (which means you must have a valid Social Insurance Number).
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a program related to archives library and information science history public administration or a relatedfield

- Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite 365 Internet etc.)
- Ability to work respectfully with marginalised and culturally diverse community members. Understand and practice anti-racist and anti-oppression approach in all aspects of work including interactions with participants community members coworkers stakeholders and others.
