We have an opportunity for a Specialist Consultant to join our Claims team in Marine Insurance. The role of Specialist Consultant exists to expertly manage large and/or complex Marine claims. This role will play an important part in executing the Suncorp New Zealand Claims strategy and will be focused on best practice claim resolution for claims that are high value and/or complex and challenging. This includes disputed and escalated claims where a high level of strategy negotiation diplomacy and communication is required to reach appropriate solutions.

What youll do:

• Provide market leading customer solutions for the high value and complex claims across all classes of Marine claims.
• Manage/resolve escalated claims complaint claims and claims in formal dispute resolution through NZ Courts or disputes resolution providers
• Represent Suncorp at mediations court proceedings and other negotiation forums
• Collaboration with other specialist within the wider group which may include mentoring advice support and cross training.
• Responsible for reinsurance bordereaux recoveries
• Act as mentor to less experienced claims staff
• Develop support and motivate the team
• Actively engage in and promote process improvement

What youll bring:

• Tertiary qualification in law and/or an appropriate business discipline
• Desired10 Years claims advocacy experience with excellent proficiency in all lines of marine claims
• Strong negotiation skills Problem solving and analytical proficiency
• Highly developed interpersonal skills both written and oral
