Job Summary
2.1 Production & Plant Operations
Own end-to-end production planning and execution across all six plants ensuring targets are met on a daily weekly and monthly basis.
Monitor plant utilisation shift productivity and output quality. Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
Standardise operating procedures (SOPs) across all plants for gas filling cylinder handling safety protocols and housekeeping.
Ensure compliance with PESO regulations IS 7285 standards and all applicable statutory and environmental norms.
Drive a culture of discipline punctuality and accountability on the shop floor.
2.2 Maintenance & Machinery Management
Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules for compressors filling manifolds pumps cranes and all plant equipment.
Maintain a plant-wise machinery health tracker with downtime logs AMC schedules and spares inventory.
Coordinate with OEMs and service vendors for timely repairs and upgrades. Negotiate AMCs where needed.
Ensure all equipment calibration pressure testing and safety certifications are up to date.
2.3 Quality Control & Quality Assurance
Ensure gas purity standards are consistently met across all products (oxygen nitrogen argon CO dissolved acetylene IG-541 etc.).
Oversee QC testing protocols maintain calibration records and ensure lab equipment is in good working order.
Implement QA systems to reduce cylinder rejection rates customer complaints and non-conformance incidents.
Drive documentation and record-keeping discipline for all QC/QA activities in preparation for audits and certifications.
2.4 Distribution & Logistics
Manage the entire fleet of distribution vehicles across all plants route planning dispatch scheduling vehicle maintenance and driver management.
Optimise cylinder turnaround time (CTR) and ensure timely delivery against committed schedules.
Coordinate with sales on demand forecasting and distribution planning to avoid stockouts or excess inventory.
Implement vehicle tracking trip-sheet discipline and fuel consumption monitoring.
2.5 Operational Gap Analysis & Process Improvement
Conduct regular audits of each plants operations to identify gaps in production safety maintenance quality and workforce productivity.
Prepare structured reports with findings and actionable recommendations for management review.
Implement management-approved improvements and track progress to closure.
Introduce MIS dashboards and reporting frameworks for key operational KPIs (production volumes downtime rejection rates CTR vehicle utilisation labour productivity).
2.6 Labour Management & Contractor Liaison
Assess manpower requirements across all plants and ensure adequate staffing through a mix of permanent employees and contract labour.
Liaise with local labour contractors for sourcing onboarding and retention of contract workers.
Ensure compliance with all labour laws PF ESIC minimum wages contract labour regulations and safety training.
Manage industrial relations at the plant level. Address grievances maintain discipline and ensure a safe working environment.
Drive upskilling and cross-training initiatives for plant-floor teams.
2.7 Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with the Sales team on order fulfilment cylinder availability and customer-specific requirements.
Coordinate with the Logistics team on distribution planning fleet management and delivery schedules.
Collaborate with the Maintenance department on preventive maintenance planning breakdown response and equipment lifecycle management.
Coordinate with Accounts on cost control operational budgets and vendor payments.
Report directly to Management/Directors on operational performance risks and strategic inputs.
2.8 Technology & Systems
Champion the adoption of digital tools and technology across operations production tracking apps MIS dashboards ERP modules and mobile-first reporting systems.
Evaluate and recommend technology solutions to improve efficiency reduce manual work and enable data-driven decision-making.
Ensure all plant-level data capture (production dispatch maintenance QC) is digitised and accessible to management in real time.
3. Candidate Profile
3.1 Qualifications
B.E. / in Mechanical Chemical or Industrial Engineering (preferred). Diploma holders with strong operational track record will also be considered.
MBA or PG Diploma in Operations Management is a plus.
3.2 Experience
10 years of experience in operations/plant management in industrial gases chemicals petrochemicals or similar process industries with a significant portion in a managerial capacity.
Must have managed multi-site operations with direct responsibility for production maintenance quality and distribution.
Experience managing a workforce of 100 including contract labour.
Prior exposure to PESO-regulated environments and cylinder/pressure vessel operations is highly desirable.
3.3 Skills & Attributes

Techno-savvy comfortable with digital tools apps dashboards and data-driven reporting. Willingness to adopt and champion new technology.
Structured thinker with the ability to identify root causes document gaps and present solutions to senior management.
Hands-on leadership style willing to spend time on the shop floor and travel across all six plants regularly.
Excellent communication skills in Hindi and Marathi (English proficiency preferred for reporting).
Strong people management skills ability to drive discipline while maintaining workforce morale.
