Come Work with Compass ELC: the role:

As a Summer Program Educator at Compass ELC youll join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to nurturing young minds. This role will work with children families and community partners to create enriching learning experiences based on their interests and passions. Youll work 35 hours weekly Monday to Friday with Infants Toddler Preschool Kinders and School-age children. Shift start and end times will fluctuate within the programs operating hours of 6:30 am to 6 pm.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect childrens unique interests to promote the physical cognitive emotional and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision of children while still being engaged in play.
  • Documenting childrens learning progress through observation reflection and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health safety and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering dressing and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers families and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings professional learning opportunities and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC CCEYA and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check Standard First Aid and CPR Level C and updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
    • OR has a post-secondary degree in a similar field (i.e. Child and Youth Care Recreation and Leisure Social Service Work Bachelor of Education etc.)
    • OR is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.

  1. is between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
