Registered Nurse

Prepares patients for clinical encounters to include patient screening and collection of health history as well as coordinates and follows-up on patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Graduation from an accredited RN or BSN program.

Experience

One-year recent experience in a health care setting required. Current Alaska Registered Nursing License or equivalent required. Current certification in BLS. Cultural competence in working with diverse populations required.

Essential Functions:

1. Report to work as scheduled on time and prepared to start working. Remain at work for their entire work schedule.
2. Ability to perform CSS I duties.
3. Serves as point of contact for patients with questions who call or walk-in and as appropriate resolves patient concerns.
4. Performs basic laboratory functions CLIA waived lab tests and clinical procedures within appropriate scope of practice (e.g. pediatric and adult injections dispenses medications EKGs vision screening dressing changes etc.)
5. Assists provider with procedures.
6. Performs patient follow-up and coordinates care (e.g. obtains prior authorizations completes patient forms/documents for provider review follows-up on abnormal results etc) according to clinic protocol and/or orders from Nurse Case Manager.
7. Listens to documents responds and if necessary routes provider voicemail messages.
8. Refills patient medications according to clinic protocol.
9. Assists in pre-visit preparation by pulling patient pre-visit information for daily team huddles including if licensed patient information off the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
10. Assesses patients paperwork to determine what needs to be done including review health record (e.g. health history labs imaging immunizations) and complete it within scope of abilities to give to provider.
11. Enters in and tracks patient recalls (childhood and adult immunizations future blood work abnormal paps colonoscopies etc.).
12. Assists with maintaining and/or implements a tracking system or registry and enters recalls for specified patient populations (i.e. prenatal patients diabetes etc.) utilizing the centers electronic data system.
13. Completes submits and tracks Pharmaceutical Company Prescription Assistance Applications and travel vouchers.
14. Operates and maintains centers medical equipment according to manufacture instructions and clinic protocols.
15. Reviews and coordinates with other departments and integrates work with other staff to ensure timely and accurate patient flow.
16. Participates in meetings.
17. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
18. Complies with centers policies and procedures.
19. Utilizes specialized office and medical equipment according to procedure.
20. Other duties as assigned.
