Client Overview
The client is seeking a Senior Network Support Engineer / Administrator (Data) to join its Network Operations team. The organisation operates at national scale supporting critical infrastructure across 189 sites and serving over 7000 users. This role will contribute to maintaining enhancing and securing enterprise network environments while supporting ongoing transformation initiatives including SD-WAN SASE and Zero Trust architectures..
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will act as a senior technical resource within the Network Operations team providing expertise in network design implementation monitoring and support. The role involves leading network-related projects ensuring high availability and security of network services and contributing to architecture and compliance initiatives (e.g. NIS2 ISO 27001). The resource will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
The client wishes to procure the services of a senior network support engineer to augment and work alongside the existing Network Operations team.
The Network Operations team has responsibility for:
WAN LAN Wifi connectivity at 189 sites nationwide
Network monitoring and management
Network design and configuration
Network equipment installations
Network access control TACACS RADIUS 802.1x MAC Authentication
DHCP
DNS
IP address management
The duties of the role are broadly outlined below:
Act as a technical lead on network projects migrations and infrastructure improvements.
Conduct research and provide advice on new solutions and best practice.
Contribute to network architecture design standards and documentation for the Department across DC/Cloud/Campus/WAN and Security.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver secure scalable solutions.
Provide advanced support for network incidents service interruptions and performance issues.
Monitor network health capacity and performance using enterprise monitoring tools.
Configure maintain and optimise network infrastructure to ensure high availability security and peak performance across all environments.
Develop and maintain operational procedures driving improvements and automation where possible.
Implement and maintain network security controls including TACACS RADIUS ACLs segmentation.
Support compliance with NIS2 through implementation of cybersecurity controls.
Support compliance with ISO 27001 through documentation and audit readiness.
Provide guidance coaching and technical escalation support to junior engineers.
Contribute to knowledge base development and internal training sessions.
Promote best practices in network engineering documentation and operational discipline.
The candidate must also have a good understanding of SD-WAN SASE and zero trust principles to support the Departments long-term network and security goals.

Provision of technical guidance mentoring and escalation support to junior engineers.
