Mechanical Engineering internship Developing a common reticle stage support frame
Eindhoven - Netherlands
Job Summary
Introduction
The Mechanical Constructions group within ASMLs Development & Engineering organization designs large highprecision mechanical structures for DUV scanners in Eindhoven. One of these structures is the reticle stage support frame which is the frame that supports the Reticle Stage a critical element that supports accurate wafer patterning. Over time multiple design variants have been developed using different production this Mechanical Engineering internship you will help define one common futureproof design tailored to the selected manufacturing technique. This internship gives you handson experience in industrial design for manufacturing within a hightech environment.
Your assignment
In this Mechanical Engineering internship: reticle stage support frame design you will analyze existing designs and translate them into a manufacturable and costefficient solution. You will work closely with engineers from the Mechanical Constructions group to balance structural performance material choices and production constraints. The assignment focuses on applying designformanufacturing principles in a real industrial context. Your main responsibilities will be:
Study existing reticle stage support frame design variants their current manufacturing techniques and the machine surroundings
Compare manufacturing techniques and evaluate their impact on cost quality and scalability
Explore new design concepts that enable standardization and production efficiency
Select suitable materials based on mechanical performance and manufacturability
Perform strength and stiffness analyses to validate the proposed design
Translate analysis results into a clear and documented mechanical design
Present findings and design recommendations to the engineering team
This is a bachelor internship for 5-7 months minimum 5 days per week (2-3 days onsite). The start date of this internship is as of September 2026 and is flexible.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship you:
Are enrolled in a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
Are looking for a bachelor internship
Have knowledge of mechanical design and designformanufacturing principles
Are analytical and structured when solving technical problems
Communicate clearly and work collaboratively with engineers from different backgrounds
Have knowledge of parametric design software preferably Siemens NX
This Mechanical Engineering internship is based at the ASML High Tech campus in Eindhoven and is well suited for students who want to strengthen their mechanical design skills in a hightech industrial setting. During this internship you will gain experience with industrial engineering challenges while contributing to designs that support nextgeneration semiconductor systems. If you are motivated to apply your theoretical knowledge in practice this internship offers a strong foundation for your future engineering career.
