Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Operator for our 2nd shift team. This role is responsible for setting up operating and maintaining EDM machines to produce precision components that meet tight tolerances and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in wire or sinker EDM and a strong understanding of machining processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate EDM machines (wire and/or sinker) according to job specifications and blueprints
Interpret technical drawings blueprints and work instructions
Select appropriate electrodes fixtures and materials for machining operations
Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers calipers gauges etc.)
Maintain tight tolerances and ensure all parts meet quality standards
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on EDM equipment
Document production data and maintain accurate records
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean organized work environment
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve machining issues
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification preferred
2 years of EDM machining experience (wire and/or sinker preferred)
Strong understanding of machining principles and blueprint reading
Experience working with tight tolerances and precision components
Familiarity with CNC controls and programming is a plus
Ability to use precision measuring tools effectively
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
