The Opportunity

Orrcon Steel Distribution is looking for an Electrical Technician to join the Maintenance & Reliability team based in Unanderra. This is a fantastic time to come on board and be part of our team to help improve and maintain our new Pipe and Tube Mill based in the Illawarra. Youll be able to use your electrical skills and experience to support reliability and continuous improvements.  Working closely with the engineering and maintenance team you will actively repair and maintain equipment - as well as coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance activities.

What Will You Do

As part of this team and site you will: 

• Ensure safety standards are never compromised making suitable changes when risks and opportunities are identified.
• Carry out handson electrical and automation maintenance faultfinding and repairs across plant and equipment.
• Support BAU maintenance activities while also contributing to capital works and new equipment installations.
• Coordinate with and oversee external contractors on site when specialist work or additional resources are required.
• Collaborate daily with engineers and technicians to solve problems refine systems and implement improvements.
• Develop update and follow technical documentation procedures and isolation plans to support safe and consistent work practices.
• Identify improvement opportunities and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives helping shape how systems and processes are implemented and evolved.

More About You

As a maintenance professional within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment you will bring: 

• Electrical Trade Qualification with a current NSW Electrical Licence and 45 years posttrade experience in an industrial environment.
• Handson experience in heavy industry including highvoltage systems automated machinery and control systems.
• Broad endtoend electrical/automation experience.
• Comfortable in a handson sitebased role contributing directly rather than primarily managing contractors.
• Strong team player in a small collaborative environment with involvement in improvements documentation and ways of working.
• Positive attitude with a genuine desire to learn develop and build a longterm career in industrial electrical and automation work.
• Comfortable working at heights (such as crane maintenance) when required
