Job Description:
The UF College of Medicine communications team produces internal and external content to maintain and strengthen the colleges reputation. This internship will specifically support communications efforts for the colleges Quality and Patient Safety initiative (QPSi) with a focus on storytelling digital content (including for web and social media) and strategic messaging related to AI quality Improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
Writing feature stories and news briefs promoting QPSi projects for internal audiences (UF and UF Health) as well as external audiences in both digital and print media
Assisting in maintaining the editorial calendar for QPSi-related content for the UF College of Medicine social media channels (Facebook X Instagram LinkedIn)
Creating written and multimedia social media content
Assisting in building out e-newsletters and loading stories to the web using WordPress
Supporting communications planning for QPSi events and initiatives
Concepting and executing paid social media campaigns in close partnership with the QPSi and College of Medicine communications teams
Interfacing with graphic designers and/or assisting with graphic design as able (Canva Adobe Creative Suite)
Analyzing communications and marketing performance for digital and print content

Expected Salary:
$17.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate or graduate student at UF studying public relations journalism or related communications field
Successful completion of reporting class if applicable to major
Provide a current resume and at least two previous writing samples
Between 15-20 hours of in-person availability per week for the duration of the internship
Preferred:
Experience producing content for and managing social media channels
Interest in or experience writing about scientific topics for general audiences
Experience with public relations feature writing and/or news writing
Experience drafting social media content and managing newsletters
Experience with paid social media ad campaigns
Familiarity with audience engagement strategies and analytics
Familiarity with content management systems (WordPress)
