Job Summary
An Associate Medical Director (MD) performs the following roles:The Associate Medical Director will have administrative and clinical oversight of the program (alongside and assisting the Medical Director) to provide the highest quality of care utilizing state-of-the-art evidence-based therapeutic models and will facilitate the integration of clinical services with the research educational fiscal and operational aspects of the program in keeping with the strategic goals values and policies of the Hospital. Other duties include:
Provides psychiatric evaluation diagnosis and treatment; formulates individual treatment plans for psychiatric patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses.
Conducts routine forensic evaluations (e.g. commitment guardianship).
Directs the ongoing care of patients.
Provides clinical services including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy
Communicates with other providers of mental health and medical services as appropriate.
Maintains contact with family members as appropriate.
Documents in the record by the completion of treatment plans patient encounter forms appropriate progress notes clinical summaries and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through the completion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations.
Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g. staff meetings CQI hospital committees etc.)
Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.
Participates in the hospital teaching and research efforts.
Qualifications
Qualifications - External
Degree: M.D. degree (or equivalent as confirmed by ECFMG) required
License: License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of MA or in the state where services are provided.
Experience: 3 to 4 years formal residency education in a program approved by the RRC of the ACGME. ABP&N eligible or certified psychiatrist.
