Job Summary

Canada Summer Jobs Position: Community Service Worker (Assistant)

Full-time Contract Onsite

$18.60 per hour 35 hrs/week
Start date: May 4 2026 for eight weeks

This position is thanks to support from Employment and Social Development Canada - Canada Summer Jobs program. Participants will also be encouraged to complete a questionnaire to report on their experience with the Canada Summer Jobs program. As per requirements of this grant the successful candidate must:


  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
  • Be either Canadian Permanent Resident or Refugee. International students and those who are here in Canada on a work youth or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
  • Have a valid SIN.
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

What will you be doing as the Community Service Worker (Assistant)
The Community Service Worker (Assistant) will support outreach to community groups grassroots organizations cultural partners and stakeholders participating in Pride Month. Tasks include coordinating community meetings supporting activations distributing materials gathering community feedback and assisting with Pride 365 engagement initiatives.

Based on the nature of this role the Community Service Worker (Assistant) may need to work weekends and evenings outside of regular work hours to support events planned throughout May and June.

All Pride Toronto Summer Students must be available to work Pride Festival Weekend (June 25-28). Pride Festival Weekend is full of performances art and parades celebrating the 2SLGBTQI communities. No matter their role all members of the Pride Toronto team support the Pride Festival through various operational and programming tasks that ensure the events are safe fun and memorable.

Other responsibilities include:
Community Outreach & Stakeholder Support

  • Conduct outreach to grassroots organizations advocacy groups cultural partners and community stakeholders involved in Pride Month and Pride 365 activities.
  • Maintain communication with partners regarding event participation booth coordination workshops volunteer opportunities and community programming.
  • Update and maintain contact databases outreach logs and engagement tracking tools.
Community Support & Service Delivery

  • Engage directly with community members to answer questions share resources and provide supportive information about Pride Month activities and community services.
  • Assist in connecting individuals and organizations to Pride Toronto programs resources and opportunities.
  • Help ensure diverse community voices including underserved groups are included in outreach efforts.
Coordination of Community Meetings & Engagement Sessions

  • Support the setup and execution of engagement sessions community meetings roundtables and working groups.
  • Prepare agendas sign-in sheets outreach kits meeting notes and follow-up summaries.
  • Assist with room setup virtual platform coordination accessibility accommodations and distribution of materials.
Pride 365 Engagement & Outreach Activities

  • Assist with organizing and promoting year-round engagement activities such as workshops consultations cultural events and community pop-ups.
  • Distribute informational materials posters and engagement resources to community hubs and partner organizations.
  • Support the planning and delivery of Pride 365 collaborations with local community groups.
Onsite Support During Pride Month

  • Assist in the operation of community zones cultural areas outreach booths and engagement spaces during Pride Month events.
  • Provide support to participating organizations ensuring their needs are addressed and their activation areas run smoothly.
  • Help with partner check-in wayfinding responding to public inquiries and ensuring an accessible and welcoming environment.
Feedback Collection & Community Reporting

  • Gather community feedback through surveys conversations interviews and post-event follow-ups.
  • Document trends concerns and community insights and report them to internal teams.
  • Support the preparation of evaluation reports engagement summaries and grant-required community documentation.
Administrative & Organizational Support

  • Maintain organized files digital folders engagement records meeting documentation and outreach archives.
  • Assist with updating spreadsheets tracking participation and compiling data for evaluation.
  • Support internal departments by preparing outreach kits volunteer resources and engagement materials.
Equity Inclusion & Cultural Competency

  • Engage respectfully with community members from diverse backgrounds including 2SLGBTQ youth seniors newcomers Indigenous communities Black and racialized groups and people with disabilities.
  • Uphold Pride Torontos commitment to accessibility inclusion and equity in all outreach activities.
  • Help ensure programming and engagement initiatives reflect the diversity and intersectional needs of Torontos communities.

What are we looking for
Qualifications and skills required of the role.

  • Youth between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience
  • Highly organized and experienced with MS Office G-Suite platform and other online tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Knowledge and understanding of the 2SLGBTQI community
  • Demonstrated administrative background
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • This position requires you to work from our office Mondays to Fridays between 9:00am-5:00pm.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and events (lieu time provided to be provided for hours worked)
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including occasional heavy lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required to support on-site event production needs. The ideal candidate is hands-on and adaptable willing to assist with logistical tasks to ensure seamless event execution
