Senior Environmental Consultant
Job Summary
We are seeking Senior Environmental Consultants to support the delivery of major infrastructure programmes within Scotland (focused in and around Aberdeen) across highly regulated sectors in particular regard to energy transmission. These roles sit within the Environment Consents & Engagement (ECE) Practice providing technical leadership project delivery and assurance across a range of environmental specialisms.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in pricing exercises including creating a pricing schedule liaising with Procurement / Commercial Teams to obtain quotes and providing scope justification.
- Create monthly updated Environmental Statement (ES) programmes with the assistance of the project Senior Planner.
- Track manage and report on subcontractor / consultant works onsite.
- Oversee monthly performance reporting against KPIs and targets seeking to make continuous improvements in process and quality of data.
- Coordinate with project site team to produce 4-week look ahead and advise them on ES impacts of construction / Ground Investigation (GI) programme. Inform project team of ES priorities on site.
- Be available for site visits walkovers inspections meetings etc.
- Be the emergency point of contact and first responder on the scene in the case of environmental accidents incidents and emergencies. Assist in incident investigations.
- Produce and update project documentation including review the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and update Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
- Produce Scope of Work documentation for subcontractors related to ecology archaeology hydrology water sampling raptor surveys etc. Be present and available onsite for surveys to comply with lone working requirements.
Qualifications :
About You
- Significant experience working as an environmental consultant within regulated infrastructure environments.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation policy and assessment processes relevant to major projects.
- Ability to lead technical delivery and provide clear pragmatic advice to project teams and clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience producing and reviewing technical reports.
- Comfortable working independently while contributing to multi-disciplinary project teams.
Desirable
- Good level of ecological management experience within infrastructure development.
- Experience liaising with regulatory bodies including but not limited to Nature Scot SEPA Marine Scotland and Local Planning Authorities.
- Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body (e.g. ISEP CIEEM IES).
- Experience leading environmental inputs on large or complex infrastructure programmes.
- Experience mentoring junior staff or leading small technical teams.
