Role Overview

As a Field Application Engineer for Tuxeras Enterprise High-Performance Storage Solutions portfolio you are expected to take ownership of technical success in each opportunity and drive it to closure. You will serve as the technical bridge between customers partners and Tuxeras global engineering and sales organization.

You will work closely with Account Executives and partners to drive complex enterprise opportunitiesproactively leading technical discussions supporting and driving evaluations and integrations and ensuring customers achieve high performance and reliability at scale through our solution implementation.

This role combines strong technical expertise with proactive customer-facing execution. You will be equally comfortable discussing architecture with enterprise IT teams supporting PoCs and collaborating with global teams to resolve technical challenges.

This position is available in Yokohama (Minatomirai) Japan with a hybrid working environment.

What Youll Do

• Own the technical sales cycle
  Contribute to lead generation by identifying technical opportunities through engagement with customer prospects and partners in collaboration with Account Executives. Lead technical discovery map customer requirements to Tuxera solutions deliver tailored demos and PoCs and remove technical blockers through to deal closure.
• Customer evaluation & integration support
  Proactively provide hands-on guidance during product evaluation and integration including configuration performance tuning and best practices for throughput latency and reliability.
• Architecture design & advisory
  Design and document reference architectures for on-premises cloud and hybrid environments including data flows security considerations and HA/scale-out strategies.
• Performance analysis & optimization
  Support benchmarking activities and analyze system performance across storage network and client-server layers. Identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
• Protocol & system troubleshooting
  Investigate issues using logs traces and diagnostic tools (e.g. tcpdump Wireshark) reproduce problems where needed and collaborate with Tuxera Engineering for resolution.
• Partner & stakeholder coordination
  Proactively work with system integrators partners and customer stakeholders to align technical direction manage evaluation and PoC progress and ensure smooth project execution.
• Enablement & localization
  Create and adapt technical materials (e.g. runbooks sizing guides tuning guides) for the Japanese market and deliver technical workshops and presentations.
• Feedback to global teams
  Provide structured feedback from customer engagements to Product Management and Engineering to influence product roadmap and improve solution fit.

What You Bring

Core Technical Skills and Knowledge (Must Have)

• Solid understanding of Linux systems (user-space POSIX fundamentals)
• Working knowledge of networking (TCP/IP DNS DHCP etc.)
• Familiarity with file protocols such as SMB and/or NFS
• Experience supporting technical evaluations PoCs or customer integrations
• Ability to troubleshoot system-level issues and work with logs and diagnostic tools
• Business-level English communication skills (to work with global teams)
• Fluent in Japanese (required for customer and partner engagement)

Preferred Technical Skills and Knowledge (Nice to Have)

• Experience with performance benchmarking and tuning
• Knowledge of Windows environments Active Directory ACLs
• Experience with enterprise storage architectures (on-prem / cloud / hybrid)
• Familiarity with HA / clustered systems
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure GCP etc.)
• Exposure to container environments (Docker Kubernetes) or CI/CD workflows
• Understanding of RDMA multichannel or high-performance networking (plus)

Experience & Soft Skills

• Experience in pre-sales post-sales or field engineering roles
• Ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership
• Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders (customers partners HQ)
• Comfortable working in a fast-growing cross-cultural environment

Experience with data/storage workflows in one or more of the following industries and/or projects is a plus:
