A day in the life of a Community and Recreation Disability Support worker at Berry Street Yooralla.
So what will you actually be doing as a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Community and Recreation This rewarding role supports adults with disability to get out and about in the community. You may support people one-on-one or in groups mostly in the community and occasionally in their homes. No one work day will be the same! You might support clients with:
- working towards their goals
- a wide range of recreation and social activities
- supporting children and youth to participate in after school care and school holiday programs
- support children youth and adults to attend a camp or to go on a holiday
- shopping appointments and events
- engaging in meaningful opportunities and relationships and
- daily living and personal care needs including assistance with meal preparation personal hygiene and mobility etc.

About You
Were looking for people who are passionate have a great attitude and an eagerness to learn. Youll share Yoorallasvaluesand have:
- A positive approach initiative and self-motivation
- Willingness to be committed to empowering our clients to reach their goals and to upholding quality and safeguards in your everyday work
- Effective communication skills and good English literacy to communicate well with our clients
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
- Willingness to support clients with personal care activities
- Australian Driver Licence
- Working with Children Check
- The right to work in Australia and
- The ability to get a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you dont already have one.
A Certificate IV in Disability relevant work experience or an interest in community services would be great if you already have any of these. If not dont worry as Yooralla provides excellent training and support and can even support you to work and study. You may even find you have some transferable skills to bring to the role.
You will be subject to NDIS Worker Screening Check.
