Job Summary

Position Summary

The First Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned to district standards and ensuring all students learn at high levels. This position requires a commitment to student achievement collaboration and maintaining a safe structured and engaging classroom environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan deliver and assess instruction aligned with district curriculum and Washington State standards.
  • Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students including those who are at-risk or require additional support.
  • Use a variety of assessment tools and data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain clear accurate and timely records of student performance.
  • Establish and maintain a classroom environment that is safe respectful and focused on learning.
  • Implement effective classroom management practices that support student engagement and behavior expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with grade-level teams specialists and support staff to improve student outcomes.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress concerns and successes.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) staff meetings and required professional development.
  • Support school and district initiatives including curriculum implementation and improvement efforts.
  • Integrate technology as a tool to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students staff and families.
  • Follow all district policies and state and federal laws related to education and student supervision.
  • Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Experience working with elementary students preferred.
  • Knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development.
  • Ability to use assessment data to drive instruction and improve student outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) preferred.
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to carry push and pull materials.
  • Some climbing stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling.
  • Frequent standing walking and sitting.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills.
