The Production Control Manager is responsible for translating the MPS into a manufacturing schedule (facilitating the on-time delivery to the MPS); ensuring the availability of manpower and materials to meet production schedules; working with Logistics and Team Leaders to align on timings. The role involves managing buffer requirements developing/embedding a kitting strategy and translating the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into detailed scheduling plans at the factory floor level. The Production Control Manager will liaise with Logistics (inbound/outbound) Manufacturing Team Leaders and the wider cross-functional Teams to ensure that production plans and targets can be met. Monitor and provide visibility of the current status via report out on adherence to execution and trigger associated recovery plans when needed.Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manpower and Material Management:
- Ensure that the required manpower and materials are available on time and in full to meet production schedules.
- Coordinate with Logistics / procurement and Team Leaders to address any shortages or delays.
- Manage the logistics functions via direct reporting line to ensure timely delivery of both material and despatch of units / ancillaries.
2. Process Definition:
- Define and document production control processes to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Maintain buffer requirements to mitigate risks and ensure smooth operations.
3. Logistics:
- Direct Logistics Team to develop and implement a kitting strategy using the Manufacturing BoM to streamline the assembly process and reduce lead times.
- Monitor the effectiveness of the kitting strategy and develop as necessary.
- Capture logistical challenges that may impact production schedules and work with Team to resolve / mitigate.
4. Scheduling:
- Translate the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into a more granular scheduling plan for the factory floor and Logistics in line with the Standard Work ensuring best possible outcome and to meet the commitments to customer.
- Ensure that the detailed scheduling plan aligns with overall production goals and timelines.
- Liaise / work closely with a cross-functional Team and Manufacturing Team Leaders to ensure that production plans and targets are met.
5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor and report out Production and Logistics performance against schedules and targets.
- Provide regular updates and reports on production status and any issues that arise.
- Generate reports and provide insights to management on production efficiency and areas for improvement.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance production scheduling efficiency.
- Incorporate actions detailed through previous and future Kaizen/Shingi Events helping to drive an ethos of Continuous Improvement.
Requirements:
- Significant experience within manufacturing environment ideally apprenticeship background and or degree qualified.
- Ideally possess scheduling experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to influence people cross functionally.
- Demonstrated planning abilities.
