Reporting to the SupervisorField Services theElectrician position is responsible for theinstallation maintenance administration and troubleshooting of intelligentsurveillance systems traffic management systems and other technology locatedon bridges and associated properties. The responsibilities include installingmaintaining testing troubleshooting and repairing industrial electricalequipment and associated electrical and electronic control systems.

Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

  • Adhere to the Organizations safety protocols standards and Safe Work Practices including mandatory safety training completion of Job Hazard Assessments reporting hazards to the Supervisor Field Services and taking corrective actions to address mitigate or control risks. Additionally contribute suggestions to enhance the overall Safety program.
  • Install inspect replace orrepair electrical wiring receptacles switch boxes conduits feeders fibre-opticand coaxial cable assemblies lighting fixtures and other electricalcomponents.
  • Conduct tests on electrical andelectronic equipment assessing continuity current voltage and resistance.
  • Troubleshoot maintain andrepair industrial electrical and electronic control systems along with otherrelated devices.
  • Inspect electrical systemsequipment or components to identify hazards defects or the need foradjustment or repair ensuring compliance with codes.
  • Execute preventive maintenanceprograms and maintain detailed maintenance records.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot trafficmanagement and associated field technology systems.
  • Maintain monitor and repairHHBs extensive roadway lighting systems.
  • Perform installationmaintenance and repair of surveillance camera systems.
  • Conduct scheduled checks onelectronics in bridges and buildings.
  • Utilize volt/ohm metersoscilloscopes and other equipment and software for testing and diagnostics.
  • Participate in job-related safetytraining and skills development as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Clean driving record and hold a valid Class 5Nova Scotia Drivers License. Driver Abstract will be requested beforeemployment.
  • Demonstrate intermediate computer proficiency.
  • Have completed and maintain Red Seal ElectricianCertification.
  • Capable of operating in high-stress environmentswith minimal supervision particularly in safety-sensitive roles.
  • Successful completion of physical demand testingand a clean criminal background check.
  • Display punctuality dependability and apositive can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to work overtime or extended shiftswhen necessary.
  • Effective communication skills with individualspossessing diverse technical/non-technical knowledge skills or experience.
  • Competent in working independently orcollaboratively as part of a team ensuring efficiency while prioritizingexcellent customer service and maintaining pride in delivering quality work.

Assets:

  • Essential safety training includes FallProtection Confined Space Entry Aerial Lifts WHMIS and First Aid. Ifnecessary these courses will be scheduled by the employer for the successfulcandidate to complete.

Position details:

This is a Full-time PermanentUnion position working40 hours per week. Shift work on-callresponse overtime or extended hours will be required based on operationaldemands. The hourly wage for this position is$39.06 which is setby the terms of the collective agreement. Hiring 1 position.

Working conditions:

This role is classified as a *safety-sensitiveposition.

Exposure to heavy to moderate noise isexpected due to proximity to automotive traffic or working near movingequipment/vehicles on the bridge.

Working conditions include variabletemperatures and exposure to adverse or extreme weather conditions exceptthunder and lightning.

Tasks may involve working at extreme heights(170 320 feet) above the bridge and in confined spaces below the bridge orwithin the bridge towers and responding to hazardous situations.
