EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Assistant Preschool Administrator supports the leadership coordination and continuous improvement of District preschool programming. This position serves as a key member of both the preschool and elementary leadership teams assisting in the implementation of high-quality early childhood education daily program operations and alignment with district and state expectations.
The role includes responsibilities in curriculum and instruction staff supervision and coaching student support compliance and family/community engagement. The Assistant Preschool Administrator works collaboratively with District leaders building administrators preschool staff families and community partners to promote school readiness student success and healthy family outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Program Support
Serve as a member of the preschool and/or building leadership team advising on early childhood programming and operations.
Assist in the oversight and implementation of district preschool programs including curriculum assessment and instructional practices.
Support building administrators and preschool staff in implementing high-quality preschool programming aligned with Iowa Quality Preschool Program Standards.
Assist in long-range planning program evaluation and continuous improvement efforts for preschool services.
Stay current on early childhood best practices legislation and program requirements and support implementation of necessary changes.
Instructional Leadership
Support the development implementation and evaluation of early childhood curriculum and assessment systems.
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to improve instructional quality and teacher effectiveness.
Assist in designing and delivering professional development for preschool staff.
Promote innovative and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
Staff Supervision and Development
Assist in supervising coaching and evaluating preschool staff including certified and non-certified employees.
Support onboarding mentoring and ongoing development of staff.
Foster a collaborative and professional learning culture among preschool and elementary staff.
Student Support and School Climate
Assist in maintaining a safe inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Support student behavior attendance and engagement ensuring developmentally appropriate practices.
Ensure compliance with due process and student rights.
Complete and maintain required training in trauma-informed practices as well as district and state-required training related to seclusion and restraint.
Compliance and Program Management
Support implementation of preschool programming in accordance with state and federal regulations including early childhood special education requirements.
Assist in monitoring program compliance documentation and reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate records related to enrollment attendance student performance and program outcomes.
Family and Community Engagement
Serve as a liaison between the District families and community agencies.
Support partnerships with organizations such as Head Start community preschool providers and local agencies.
Promote family engagement and effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
Assist in coordinating transitions from preschool to elementary school.
Operational and Financial Support
Assist in managing preschool program budgets (district and community sites) resources and materials.
Support efficient daily operations of preschool sites and programming.
Help prioritize and allocate resources to support program goals and student needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Masters degree in Education preferably with a focus in Early Childhood or Educational Leadership and Evaluator Certification required. Must have a valid administrative license. Experience in early childhood education required; leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional growth.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge of early childhood curriculum assessment and instructional best practices. Understanding of state and federal regulations related to preschool and special education. Ability to analyze data and support program improvement. Strong leadership organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences. Ability to facilitate collaboration and resolve conflict. Competence in using technology for communication data analysis and reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee in support of District goals.
