The Manager Design Best Practices & Technical Standards plays a critical role within Royal Caribbean Groups Private Destinations organization leading the development implementation and governance of design guidelines for all land based ground up development projects across the global destination portfolio. This role establishes a consistent design language ensures technical excellence and drives alignment between creative vision operational needs guest experience brand standards sustainability goals and long term asset maintainability.
This individual partners closely with Architecture Engineering Construction Island Operations Marine & Safety Brand and external consultants to ensure that all development projects meet Royal Caribbean Groups quality expectations-while remaining efficient buildable resilient and future ready.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish publish and maintain a comprehensive library of Design Best Practices Technical Standards material specifications and brand aligned design guidelines for land based development.
- Develop scalable repeatable standards for architecture interiors landscape utilities back of house and guest facing facilities.
- Implement a governance model to ensure design standards are integrated from early concept through construction documentation.
- Collaborate with Operations and Facilities teams to integrate operational feedback into long term design standards.
- Coordinate with Product teams to ensure destination design reinforces strategic brand identity and guest experience principles.
- Translate lessons learned into updated standards and future project guidance.
- Lead post occupancy evaluations to assess design performance durability guest experience and maintenance challenges.
- Build and maintain an accessible digital standards platform for internal teams and external partners.
- Develop clear templates guides checklists and standard details to support consistent project documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Architecture Engineering Urban Design or related field.
- 7 10 years of experience in architecture design management or resort/amenity focused development.
- Demonstrated experience creating or implementing design/technical standards across multi disciplinary development projects.
- Strong background in vertical and horizontal construction-preferably in hospitality resort or large scale mixed use environments.
- Excellent understanding of building systems materials codes climate resilient design and constructability.
- Ability to review and interpret architectural structural MEP landscape and civil engineering documentation.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence across diverse internal and external teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with island environments tropical climates coastal development or remote site construction.
- Familiarity with Cruise Industry or theme park level guest experience design.
- Competence with modeling tools (Revit AutoCAD SketchUp) BIM workflows and digital standards platforms.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to translate brand strategy and guest experience goals into actionable design standards.
- Deep understanding of architectural and engineering principles applied to real world construction.
- Effectively partners with creative technical operational and executive teams.
- Passion for elevating design integrity consistency and long term asset performance.
Work Environment and Travel:
