Job Summary

Title: Oracle DBA with AWS RDS SME

Location: Onsite at Chicago IL / Remote

Duration: 6 months

Descriptions: Senior Oracle DBA with strong RDS experience

Provide deep Oracle on AWS RDS expertise to support a migration initiative by partnering with application teams to design validate and execute migrations to Oracle RDS ensuring application compatibility compliance and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary Oracle RDS Subject Matter Expert for the program with strong hands on knowledge of how Oracle workloads operate on AWS RDS

Partner directly with application teams to:

o Assess the impact of migrating from on premises Oracle to Oracle RDS

o Advise on required application changes configuration updates and minor redesigns

o Validate application behavior post migration including connectivity performance and reliability

Support application migration design including:

o Oracle RDS architecture and best practices

o High availability backup patching and upgrade considerations

o Security and compliance aligned configurations in accordance with enterprise standards

Assist application teams with testing strategies and troubleshooting during migration and post cutover phases

Provide expert guidance on Oracle RDS operational characteristics including:

o Platform limitations versus self managed Oracle

o Automation differences

o Supported features and constraints

Collaborate with database and middleware engineering teams to ensure alignment with security engineering and product standards.

Strong hands on experience with Oracle on AWS RDS (not general AWS experience alone)

Senior level Oracle Database background with the ability to advise at both architecture and application design levels

Proven experience supporting application teams through database migrations

Solid understanding of:

o Database migration risks and mitigations

o Application dependency mapping and validation

o Oracle RDS limitations and trade offs compared to self managed Oracle
