Job Summary


Early Childhood Partnership are seeking x2 part time Independent Domestic Abuse Specialists to join our team based at Bedfordshire Police role will work alongside an established Force Control Room Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA).

Raneems Law is a set of new measures introduced by the Government in 2024 in response to the murder of Raneem Oudeh and her mother Khaola Saleem. Raneem and Khaola were murdered by Raneems ex-partner in 2018. Raneems Law is a pledge aiming to halve violence against women and girls over the next decade. Bedfordshire was part of Phase 1 of the national rollout of Raneems Law - a landmark initiative transforming the way police respond to domestic abuse emergencies.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of the expansion of Early Childhood Partnership specialist domestic abuse team working alongside Bedfordshire Police colleagues influencing decisions that strengthen the response to those seeking help and support after reporting to the police. The role will work alongside an established Force Control Room Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA).

Appointment to these posts will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service and Bedfordshire Police Vetting. Bedfordshire Police and Early Childhood Partnership are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are looking for:
Candidates with experience within the field of Domestic Abuse and willingness to undertake specialist training.
Candidates with experience working with children young people and families affected by domestic abuse and other vulnerabilities including supporting adults in high-stress situations and managing risk effectively. They will have experience working collaboratively with professionals across a range of settings and a strong understanding of risk management and safeguarding practices.
Candidates who can demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed approaches including vicarious trauma adverse childhood experiences and whole-person support.
Candidates who can demonstrate a good understanding of the criminal and civil justice systems including knowledge of remedies available to victims of domestic abuse.
An awareness of the challenges faced by diverse communities including barriers to accessing services cultural awareness and experience supporting these groups to engage effectively.
Strong IT skills are essential including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) with either experience using Microsoft Publisher or a willingness to learn. A good standard of numeracy is also required to ensure accurate data processing and analysis. Candidates will be expected to engage with Bedfordshire Police systems as deemed appropriate following given training.

This is a Part Time role.
Hours per week: 15
Working Pattern: 15 hours per week covering weekend & weekday including evening shifts.

  • Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
  • Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
