Job Overview

ND Global Consulting Services Inc. (NDGCS) is seeking qualified Substitute Teachers to support Head Start and Early Head Start centers throughout Hillsborough County. This temporary part-time role is ideal for early childhood professionals who can provide classroom coverage support lesson delivery and help maintain safe nurturing and compliant learning environments for preschool-age children including children with special needs. Assignments may vary by location based on operational need.


Key Responsibilities

Support classroom activities field trips outdoor activities enrollment and attendance processes included in lesson plans. Develop and provide activities responsive to the cultural backgrounds of the children and families served. Supervise mealtimes and encourage positive nutrition and social skills. Support healthy safe developmentally appropriate classroom experiences. Assist with family nights classroom preparation newsletters and other program tasks as needed. Work with children with disabilities and follow directions related to IEPs and IFSPs. Sanitize surfaces and maintain safe classroom or kitchen environments. Assist with janitorial tasks and meal/snack preparation or documentation when required. Participate in food service cleanup and inventory tasks. Serve as sick room attendant if directed. Attend required staff meetings parent activities trainings and workshops. Document child abuse concerns as required by law. Plan develop and implement daily lesson plans that support educational and enrichment activities for preschool-age children and meet federal performance standards. Coordinate and oversee daily activities of an assigned Head Start / Early Head Start center to help maintain compliance with program licensing health and fire inspection requirements. Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or a related field required or a related field with 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education and at least 1 year of experience teaching Head Start Early Head Start preschool or kindergarten-age children. An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered but not less than a high school diploma or GED. Required training/coursework may include a 10-hour Developmentally Appropriate Practices course for Preschoolers or Infant/Toddlers 6 hours in Child Growth and Development 6 hours in Behavioral Observation and Screening 8 hours in Health Safety and Nutrition 4 hours in Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect and 6 hours in Child Care Facility Rules and Regulations or 30 hours of Introductory Child Care Training. Current First Aid and CPR certification is required.


Additional Requirements

Candidates must be able to pass all required background and screening checks which may include FDLE/CJIS criminal history Level 1 and Level 2 screening child abuse/neglect checks and sex offender/sexual predator checks. A CDA or FCCPC may be required where applicable. For VPK classroom assignments additional credentialing and screening requirements may apply. Candidates must comply with Head Start / Early Head Start dress code ID badge requirements confidentiality standards and standards of conduct.


Physical Requirements

This role requires regular kneeling stooping bending and sitting on the floor to attend to childrens needs. Candidates must be able to assist with transporting children with special needs on field trips including possible lifting into seats and fastening seat belts. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly to move objects.


Work Locations

Assignments may be made across multiple Head Start / Early Head Start sites in Hillsborough County including Tampa Plant City Ruskin Seffner Lutz and surrounding service locations.
