The accounting and finance intern will work within an active rail and ocean transportation environment and assist the finance team with dayâtoâday accounting and financial support activities. Responsibilities will include supporting expense tracking and documentation assisting with invoice review and reconciliations and helping maintain accurate financial records in accordance with internal controls and company policies. The intern will also contribute to special projects related to financial reporting data analysis and process documentation. Through these responsibilities the intern will develop foundational skills in accounting processes financial analysis and professional communication that support future coursework and career development in accounting or finance.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The intern will gain a basic understanding of the railroad industry including industry structure and some competitive dynamics. The intern will also gain an understanding of G&Ws processes procedures and systems. Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Effective oral and written communication skills Proficiency in MS Word Excel and Outlook Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail Ability to interact effectively with all levels and continue to maintain a high level of objectivity and independence Self-starter
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS: Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree Must have a valid drivers license
