DescriptionThe Intermediate School Latin Teacher vacancy is a part-time position reporting directly to the Head of Intermediate School starting with the 2026-27 academic year. This position is responsible for teaching two sections of Latin to students in grades 7-8.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach two sections of Intermediate School Latin.
- Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements.
- Teach the assigned curriculum using different instructional resources.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities by integrating competencies and goals into the lesson plans.
- Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in the classroom and maintain a positive educational environment for all students.
- Correct assignments administer tests observe and evaluate students progress.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings educational conferences and other teacher training workshops.
- Demonstrate qualities to inspire student learning including an understanding of the characteristics of the age group taught.
- Work in an organized dependable patient and creative manner.
- Provide students with additional support outside of class as needed
- Communicate with the IS team and parents regarding student academic concerns
- Design and execute one on-campus cultural experience or field trip for each class
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QualificationsQualifications:
- Bachelors Degree required.
- Fluency in Latin required.
- A minimum of two years teaching experience at the Middle School level.
- Skilled in writing and preparing lesson plans.
- Ability to communicate motivate and understand the students educational and emotional needs.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers support staff parents and members of the community.
- Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement.
