Job Title: NMAMA Middle and High School Humanities Teacher Reports To: Executive Director/Principal or Humanities Department Chair Position Type: Full-Time / Certified Teaching Position Job Summary: The Middle and High School Humanities Teacher is responsible for teaching integrated courses in English Language Arts and Social Studies to middle and/or high school students. The role emphasizes critical thinking reading writing research and analysis through the exploration of literature history culture and current events. The teacher fosters interdisciplinary connections and encourages thoughtful dialogue empathy and civic responsibility. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging lessons in literature writing history and/or social sciences Integrate humanities content to create interdisciplinary units and thematic learning experiences Foster discussion debate and inquiry around historical and literary texts and contemporary issues Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners Use formative and summative assessments to monitor and support student progress Promote student writing across genres (analytical narrative argumentative etc.) Encourage students to think critically about texts perspectives and world events Incorporate technology primary sources and multimedia into lessons Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and school initiatives Maintain regular communication with students and families Attend a minimum of 3 out of school functions one of which must be graduation Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Principal
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in English History Education or related field (Masters preferred) Valid teaching certification in English Social Studies or a related subject area Experience teaching middle and/or high school students Strong instructional classroom management and communication skills Passion for the humanities and student-centered learning Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching and interdisciplinary practices
