Employee and Labour Relations Advisor

What youll be doing:
- Providing proactive practical HR advice to leaders on employee and labour relations performance management attendance accommodation and workforce planning
- Acting as the primary HR contact for assigned client groups building strong trusted relationships
- Interpreting and advising on collective agreements employment legislation organizational policies and accreditation requirements
- Managing complex employee relations matters including investigations grievances discipline terminations and separations ensuring fair consistent and defensible outcomes
- Leading and supporting workplace investigations ensuring procedural fairness and thorough documentation
- Partnering with leaders to drive effective performance management coaching progressive discipline and employee development
- Supporting labourâmanagement meetings grievance processes and arbitration or legal case preparation as required
- Collaborating with Occupational Health and other HR partners on disability management attendance concerns and returnâtoâwork planning
- Developing and delivering HR training including new leader orientation and collective agreement interpretation sessions
- Contributing to HR programs initiatives and projects that strengthen leadership capability employee engagement and organizational effectiveness
- Analyzing HR metrics such as turnover and absenteeism and providing insights to support workforce planning and decisionâmaking.
What were looking for:
- A university degree in Human Resources Labour Relations or a related discipline
- CHRP CHRL or equivalent provincial HR certification
- 35 years of progressive HR experience ideally in a fastâpaced unionized setting (health care experience is an asset)
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment and labour legislation collective agreement interpretation and HR best practices
- Proven experience managing investigations grievances discipline performance management and terminations
- Excellent communication consultation and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex issues and competing priorities
- High professional integrity sound judgment and a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality
