Job Duties
- The Head Coach will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of the program including recruiting official and unofficial visits practice planning game preparation and scouting scheduling of contests in conjunction with the sport administrator student-athlete welfare academic and compliance monitoring NCAA Conference and University rules compliance fundraising and public relations budgeting and administrative duties and responsibilities.
- The Head Coach will embrace and model a positive coaching philosophy and associated techniques insisting on a culture of respect and positive communication. The Head Coach will demonstrate an on-going commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion through hiring practices training and development programming campus collaborations or participation in university/divisional projects or initiatives.
- The Head Coach will be responsible for promoting the holistic development of the student-athlete; the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program promoting a culture of compliance including adherence to all department policies and procedures as well as the rules and regulations of the university the MEAC and the NCAA amongst staff student-athletes and representatives of athletics interest.
- The successful candidate will travel for both recruiting and team travel. The work schedule requires a flexible schedule including weekends holidays and evenings. The physical requirements for work is medium demand including lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent carrying/lifting objects.
- The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure compliance with NSU Commonwealth of Virginia NCAA and MEAC rules regulations and policies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
Minimum of two years of coaching experience at the collegiate level
Demonstrated knowledge and compliance of NCAA rules and regulations
Experience with managing budget/travel budget
Successful criminal background check is required.
Additional Considerations
Masters degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
Minimum two years NCAA Division I head coaching experience
Minimum three years coaching experience at the collegiate /professional level
Experience recruitment Tidewater/Hampton Roads area
