Job Summary

SUMMARY:

Providing students with appropriate learning activities and experience in technical plumbing skills to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual emotional physical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

  • Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Full-Time work from August through May
  • Supervise plumbing students as they practice hands-on learning experiences.
  • Serve as a mentor for students; provide master plumbing expertise and instruction to individual students.

Safety

  • Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of persons.
  • Provide a safe environment for all students.
  • Assist in supporting the rules regulations and safety of the facility.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including liftingand climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Complete an incident report for all accidents and injuries.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Communication

  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents students colleagues and community members.

Other

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile maintain file and secure all physical and computerized reports records and other required documents.
  • Comply with all policies operating procedures legal requirements and verbal and written directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid Journeyman Plumbers License or higher issued by the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners

Experience:

  • Four (4) years of successful related experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEGDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to educate with age-appropriate language and teaching methods
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of plumbing repairs maintenance and installation techniques
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints diagrams schematics and written reference material
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES:

  • None

MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Tools/Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer phone systems video/instructional equipment and peripherals
  • Plumbing tools and equipment including pipe bender propane torch; hand tools;

power tools; heavy equipment including forklift trencher backhoe; light truck or van

Posture:

  • Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting.

work in tiring and uncomfortable positions

Motion:

  • Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding grasping/squeezing wrist

flexion/extension and overhead reaching

Lifting:

  • Lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis

Environment:

  • Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building
  • Regular exposure to noise and computer monitors
  • Work inside may work outside
  • No remote work
  • Frequent districtwide travel

  • Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work;
