Job Overview

Tekberry is seeking a Mechanical Drafting / CAD Technician II to support engineering development and drafting activities for our client a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies. This role supports development programs by creating updating and managing mechanical drawings and 3D models for custom process equipment used in Cornings optical fiber and cable manufacturing facilities worldwide.

The technician will work closely with engineering teams to translate development concepts into standardized drawing packages while ensuring compliance with drafting standards equipment integration requirements and documentation processes.

Responsibilities

Drafting & Design Support
Create and update 2D drawings and 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
Develop detailed drawing packages including detail sheet metal weldment and assembly drawings
Revise and maintain existing drawings to support equipment updates and improvements
Integrate engineering design concepts across multiple equipment configurations

Engineering Documentation
Prepare drawing packages for release through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process
Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards safety requirements and ASME/ANSI standards
Maintain electronic drawing files within Autodesk Vault

Data Collection & System Documentation
Collect design information from engineering teams and incorporate updates into drawings
Perform on-site documentation of production equipment configurations
Take measurements and capture system information directly from manufacturing equipment

Mechanical Layout Support
Assist in designing mounting systems and layouts for mechanical electrical and pneumatic components
Ensure equipment designs support serviceability usability and integration within manufacturing systems

Collaboration
Work closely with engineering development and manufacturing teams
Maintain accurate documentation and support project timelines

Must-Have Qualifications

Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology Drafting/CAD or similar technical field
OR equivalent hands-on drafting experience
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in mechanical drafting
Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault
Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Ability to work within manufacturing environments and production floors

Preferred Qualifications

Experience drafting custom manufacturing equipment
Familiarity with AutoCAD in addition to Inventor
Experience working with engineering change processes (ECR/ECO)
Experience capturing measurements and documenting existing equipment configurations

Work Environment

Onsite in Concord NC with hybrid schedule possible after training
Collaboration with engineering teams and manufacturing operations
May require time on the production floor to document equipment configurations
Standard Monday Friday schedule (8:00 AM 5:00 PM)
