Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Packaging Engineer Packaging on a permanent basis for our Packaging Operations group based in Mumbai India. The Packaging Operations group is responsible for the provision of technical expertise in the areas of Packaging and Packaging Performance for products manufactured in Abbott Nutrition International.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership within Manufacturing Technology in Abbott Manufacturing Organisation and to TPMs.
  • Act as a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Injection Moulding of Plastic Parts Labelling and closure technology.
  • Provide technical leadership within Packaging Technology in Abbott Manufacturing Organisation and to TPMs.
  • Knowledge in the areas of Corrugates; Shrink Sleeves & Bottles would be an advantage.
  • Act as the Technical Lead and/or project lead for significant projects in technology transfer and process improvement.
  • Support Operational Management of Plant Teams.
  • SME participant in Root Cause Analysis of Abbott plant supplier issues.
  • Monitoring of Process Data on production moulds using statistical methods to predict performance/life expectancy
  • Ensure maintenance of technical best practice and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to Abbott Nutrition Plants to ensure compliance and security of supply metrics review investigation close-out process improvement. Implement / operational excellence (OPEX) initiatives as necessary.
  • Understanding of global regulatory requirements related to design and control of Packaging processes.
  • Candidate will be required to provide support to Global Abbott Nutrition Operations.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

There will be no reporting positions into this role.

Position Accountability / Scope

The candidate will report into the Packaging Operations Team via the EU & Asia packaging engineering structure. The candidate will not have budgetary responsibility but will have contact with all levels in Abbott Nutrition and directly with suppliers/vendors additionally the person may have contact with professional bodies and international testing houses.

Minimum Education

A Degree Level Qualification and greater than 3yrs experience in relevant industry role is the minimum required for this position.

Fluency in English at a technical level is essential.

Minimum Experience/Training Required

  • Primary 3rd Level Degree is required.
  • 3 years experience in a Technical Leadership role in a Product Manufacturing or Packaging environment.
  • Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of relevant Injection Moulded Parts.
  • Subject Matter Expert level knowledge in one other packaging disciplines
  • Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis
  • Proven record of achievement in technical and project leadership.
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organisation with proven influencing and negotiation ability.
  • Acknowledged technical leadership.
