Manual Machinist

STS Aerospace is looking for a Manual Machinist that sets up and operates conventional machines to fabricate metallic parts by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

• Studies blueprints job plans and/or work instructions to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece sequence of operations and setup requirements.
• Selects aligns and secures holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories and materials on machines such as mills lathes jig borers grinders and shapers for complex jobs.
• Design and produce quality fixtures and tooling.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
• Deburr complex parts.
• Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data for experimental jobs.
• Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
• Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
• Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms machines and equipment and test operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
• Single point I.D. and O.D. threads using manual lathes.
• Confers with engineers production personnel programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Own tools and measuring equipment needed to assure parts are made to the proper dimensions.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members
• Ability to operate machine equipment according to job instructions or training.
