Summary/Objective:
The Head Athletic Trainer will be assigned to Manheim Township School District and will primarily work with middle and high school students with the potential to support athletes of all ages. This role focuses on the prevention diagnosis and treatment of injuries. The Head Athletic Trainer collaborates closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals when advanced medical caresuch as surgery or MRIsis required.
As an employee of OAL the individual represents OAL while working within the school district and in the broader addition to treating student athletes the Head Athletic Trainer acts as the liaison between the school and its athletes and OAL. This role provides a unique opportunity to Head Athletic Trainer who values the ability to support the student athletes by treating and helping them with preventing injuries and the ability to be a leader within the community.
Essential Functions:

Provide services directed toward achieving increased functional independence decreasing functional limitations and prevention of injuries to the individual patient/athlete.
Upon the advance advice and consent of a physician carry out the practice of prevention recognition evaluation management disposition treatment and/or rehabilitation of injuries.
Perform evaluations of injuries follow standing orders for treatment management of the injury or refer the athlete to a physician.
Provide education in the prevention of injuries conditioning and rehabilitation of injuries.
Document evaluative findings treatments that were administered the patient assessment and the patients treatment plan.
Clean and maintain treatment area and workspace.
Provide emergency care within the Athletic Training scope of practice.
Ability to work in a wide variety of settings.
Effectively communicate with the patient/athlete family physician and/or coach regarding the patient/athletes injury and his/her ability to return to work/practice/competition.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelors or Masters Degree from a CAATE accredited university athletic training program.
Licensure by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine.
Must hold a current BLS for healthcare providers.
Must have all state required clearances.
A minimum of two (years) of athletic training experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) or more years of experience in athletic training is preferred.
Previous experience in a leadership role and/our previous experience in mentoring and precepting less experienced athletic trainers is preferred.
Strong communication skills for accurate concise and organized verbal and written interactions with patients and co-workers.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
